The base

A base made for its shade.

Each shade sits on a base chosen for that lamp: solid wood on the Drum, faux leather on the Column and several ready-made lamps, ceramic on others. Bases differ by model, so check the lamp you choose.

A white relief by day.

On a photo lamp the picture is carried by the thickness of the shade wall. Switched off, you see the relief. Lit, the photograph appears.

How a photo becomes depth.

A lithophane uses variations in thickness to create image detail when light passes through it. It is a textured, light-based interpretation of the photograph, not printed ink.

OffDaylight falls on the surface. You see a white relief.
OnLight shines through from inside. Thin areas glow, thick areas hold it back, and the photo appears.
